My 1st Chapter of Percy 5

It's nearly a year before the final Percy Jackson book comes out. Below is a teaser first chapter, written by me. Enjoy!

One
My Heart(and Grades) Go Up In Flames

For the first time in my life, I found myself whimpering in fear of a authority figure I shouldn't be afraid of: my principal, Mr. James Marshall. Normally, I would just settle it the old fashion way: Stand up and fight back(literally), but a few kids I new, a couple of those were the Goode High cheerleaders(no, not the blood sucking ones), told me that the principal kept an axe in his office, hidden somewhere in his desk. They were the popular kids, they would always play mind games with me. But the expression on there face told me they were dead serious.

So you might be asking, what did I do this time? Well, that's where the personal war between my grandfather Kronos and I really set off.

----------------

Yesterday, My friend Rachel Elizabeth Dare, who happened to go to go to Goode High, and I were talking about Greek myths and monsters by our lockers. Nothing wrong with that right?

Wrong.

All of a sudden Rachel just passed out in front of me. I stood over her, trying to wake her up. Our lockers at Goode were near windows, and were talking 110 degree weather. A heat advisory had been in effect for nearly two weeks. Zeus was getting extremely tense with the most important battle in Greek history just two months away.

Honestly, I couldn't blame him. I'd freak out if my civilization was going to be in one of the biggest Greek War in history. And if you had a future convict for a nephew, and that it all rested in his hands.

Anyway, some kid thought that I had knocked Rachel out cold. I told him that if I had punched her, she'd have a bruise on her face. He pointed at her face, and to my horror, I looked down, and there was a large bruise, bleeding precariously.

------------------

Rachel had been transported to a local hospital via ambulance. But the good news is that Rachel was going to be okay, and that my record of getting kicked out of school stayed intact. I had been permanently suspended from Goode, regardless of Paul's protest's.

Paul was my mom's fiance. He had finally proposed to her around mid-April and they were getting married next month, in July. He was the English teacher at Goode. I had grown to like him, and In think he's going make a great step dad. If I even make it that long.

I just couldn't stop thinking about all the headline news: LOCAL KID INJURES GIRL; CHARGES PRESSED . But still, how could that of happened? I didn't even touch her.

The principals secretary said loudly and rudely, "PERCY! GET IN THE OFFICE!"

For all of you who don't know, my name is Percy Jackson. I will be sixteen this August. About three or four years ago, my mom and a where attacked by a Greek minotaur on a Long Island road. I had a friend named Grover who has just appeared out of the blue. Just a few hours after that, I learned the most shocking secret in my family.

I was a half-blood, son or daughter of a Greek God. My real dad is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Yes, I've met him about three times before. He gave me a sand dollar for my fifteenth birthday. I still don't know what to do with it.

I slowly approached the office, everything was calm. Mr. Marshall sounded so quiet, it was like he wasn't even there. Turns out that he wasn't. Not in his human form anyway.

I walked into the office and I didn't see anything. Then I turned to my left.

With his fangs(fangs?), Mr. Marshall lunged at my chest.

-------------------

Not another empousai, I thought as Mr. Marshall lunged at me. But then I looked at his head, and I knew that this guy was no not Kelli or Tammi's dad, cousin, or brother. This wasn't even a empousai.

No, this was a minotaur(but with fangs?). But I knew who this was when I looked at the horn missing from his head.

This was the minotaur I had fought on that Long Island road, at age twelve.

My trusty sword, Riptide, was at home after a little incident at Paul's house. That's a different story.

As Mr. Marshall lunged at me, I prepared for my death. But in mid-air he just.... fell. An arrow had been shot trough his stomach. And when I looked who shot him down, I was stunned.

It was my nemesis, Luke.

---------------------

Normally, I would have stabbed him with Riptide, but I was too stunned too do anything but to say "KRONOS!".

"Percy, it's me, Luke."

"LIAR!"

"I'm-"

"LIAR!"

"I'M LUKE!"

That was enough to somewhat make a believer out of me.

I said sacarsactly, "Okay Luke, why the heck did you just save my hind?"

He sighed. "Kronos used me. Led me to belive that he was the only way to go. When he took my body last summer, I thought that all was lost."

I was sure this was Luke. The Luke I had met before he'd tried to kill me. "Go on."

"Afterward's, I managed to get Kronos out. But there's still a problem."

"What?"

"Annabeth needs to die."

I wanted to say, I don't care if Olympus is destoyed. I won't let Annabeth die. Because, deep down, I really cared about her, even if she just thought of us as friends. But instead, I simply said, "Why?"

Luke had the saddest look on his face. "Kronos has taken over her body."
